PDFs that read right-to-left the way your users do
Rightleaf converts HTML to PDF with proper bidirectional text, Arabic letter shaping, embedded Hebrew and Arabic fonts and mirrored layouts, from a REST API or a Zapier or Make step. It also ships certificate templates with a public verification page, so a course completion or membership certificate can be checked by anyone with the link.
- Hebrew, Arabic and mixed text with Latin numbers and English terms render in the correct visual order, including inside tables
- Each certificate gets a unique ID, a QR code and a hosted verification page you can revoke
- Headless-browser pool on servers we operate; a typical two-page document renders in under 3 seconds
Bannerbear, an image and PDF generation API, reached $1M ARR in September 2025.

Source: orshot.comGeneral PDF APIs treat right-to-left as an edge case
Most HTML-to-PDF services are built and tested on English documents. Feed them Hebrew or Arabic and the familiar failures appear: numbers and Latin words flipped inside a sentence, Arabic letters rendered as disconnected glyphs because shaping was skipped, fallback fonts with missing characters, tables whose columns run the wrong way, and page numbers in the wrong corner. Each fix is a workaround you maintain.
The category itself is healthy. Document and image generation APIs are a proven business: Bannerbear reached $1M in annual recurring revenue in September 2025, and PDF APIs sell from roughly $5–24 a month entry tiers upward. What is missing is a vendor that treats right-to-left rendering as the main feature rather than a bug report.
Certificates make the problem recurring. Course platforms, professional associations and continuing-education providers in Israel and the Middle East issue them every week, in Hebrew or Arabic, and increasingly need a way for employers or regulators to verify them. Rightleaf bundles both.

With Rightleaf
- Hebrew, Arabic and mixed text with Latin numbers and English terms render in the correct visual order, including inside tables
- Each certificate gets a unique ID, a QR code and a hosted verification page you can revoke
- Headless-browser pool on servers we operate; a typical two-page document renders in under 3 seconds
- Correct bidirectional rendering
- Arabic shaping and ligatures
How it works
- 1
Send HTML or pick a template
POST your HTML and CSS, or choose a certificate template and send JSON fields (name, course, date, signer). Set direction, language and fonts per document, or let Rightleaf detect them from the content.
- 2
We render it properly
A headless browser with bidi-aware layout, Arabic shaping and embedded Noto Hebrew and Arabic fonts renders the page. Mixed-direction text, tables, headers, footers and page numbers follow the document direction. Typical render time is under three seconds.
- 3
Get the PDF and a verification page
The response includes the PDF URL and, for certificates, a unique ID, QR code and public verification URL. Webhooks notify your system; Zapier and Make steps pass the file to the next action.
- 4
Manage and revoke
A dashboard lists every document and certificate, searchable by recipient, template and date. Revoke a certificate and its verification page updates immediately.
Features
Correct bidirectional rendering
The Unicode bidi algorithm is applied as browsers apply it, with explicit dir and lang attributes honored. Mixed Hebrew, English and number runs keep their logical order on the page.
Arabic shaping and ligatures
Contextual letter forms, lam-alef ligatures and diacritics render connected, not as isolated glyphs. Persian and Urdu text in Arabic script is supported with the appropriate fonts.
Embedded fonts
Noto Sans Hebrew, Noto Naskh Arabic, Noto Kufi Arabic and Noto Sans are included; upload your own licensed fonts (TTF, OTF, WOFF2) per account. Fonts are subset and embedded so the PDF looks the same everywhere.
Mirrored layout controls
Page margins, headers, footers, page numbers and table column order follow the document direction automatically; override any element with standard CSS.
Certificate templates and verification pages
Templates for course completion, continuing education, membership and attendance in Hebrew, Arabic and English. Each certificate gets an ID, a QR code and a hosted verification page showing issuer, recipient, date and status.
Zapier and Make steps
Trigger a PDF or certificate from Teachable, Thinkific, LearnWorlds, Google Sheets, Airtable or any app those platforms connect. No code needed.
REST API and code samples
JSON in, PDF out, with async mode and webhooks for batches. Code samples for Node, Python, PHP and C#.
Batch generation
Upload a CSV or send an array to issue hundreds of certificates at once, with a single ZIP download and per-row status.
A look inside
What you see day to day: the working view and the monthly summary.
Who it's for
Course platforms and online academies
You issue completion certificates in Hebrew or Arabic and your current tool mangles the text. You get a template, a Zapier step and a verification page students can share with employers.
Professional associations and continuing-education providers
Members need certificates that regulators or employers can verify. You get unique IDs, QR codes and a revocation switch, with your branding.
Israeli and Middle-East SaaS products
Your app generates invoices, reports or contracts in Hebrew or Arabic and you have patched RTL bugs for years. You get an API that handles the layout so your team stops maintaining workarounds.
Agencies and no-code builders
You deliver client projects on Make or Zapier and need documents in Hebrew or Arabic. You get a step that works the first time, billed per account with sub-accounts for clients.

Compared with the alternatives
- General PDF APIs (DocRaptor, PDFShift, APITemplate, PDFMonkey)
- Mature, well documented and cheaper at entry level, starting around $5–24 a month. They can render Hebrew or Arabic if you supply fonts and handle the layout yourself; results vary with mixed text and tables. If your documents are mostly English, use them.
- Running Puppeteer or wkhtmltopdf yourself
- Free and fully under your control. You handle font installation, shaping bugs in older engines, a browser pool, scaling and the verification pages. Worthwhile for teams with ops capacity; Rightleaf is for teams who would rather not.
- Certificate services (Certifier, Accredible, Sertifier)
- Strong on branding, LinkedIn sharing and badges, English-first, and typically priced per certificate or per seat. Rightleaf is a developer tool first, with Hebrew and Arabic as the point, and a general PDF API alongside.

Your first week
We onboard new accounts within 2 business days. Most teams have their first production certificate or PDF flowing by day three.
- Day 1: Account created, API keys issued, 30-minute call to review your first document or certificate design.
- Day 2–3: We adapt a template to your branding and languages, you run test renders from the API or a Zapier/Make step, and we fix any layout detail together.
- Day 4–5: Go live. First real documents or certificates issued; verification pages checked on mobile.
- Day 7: Short review of render logs, volumes and any edge cases; plan limits adjusted if needed.
Security and data
- Documents are rendered and stored on servers we operate, encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256).
- Source HTML and generated PDFs are retained for the storage period of your plan, then deleted; you can delete any document immediately from the dashboard or API.
- Verification pages expose only the fields you select; recipient data is never indexed or listed publicly.
- API keys are scoped per project and can be rotated at any time; access logs are available in the dashboard.
- On account closure, all documents and templates are exported to you on request and deleted within 14 days.
Questions
Isn't an HTML-to-PDF API a commodity? Why pay more?
The conversion itself is, and we say so. What you pay for is that right-to-left output is correct on the first try and stays correct, plus certificate templates and verification pages. If your documents are left-to-right only, a cheaper general API is the right choice.
Which languages and scripts are supported?
Hebrew (including nikud), Arabic, and Persian and Urdu in Arabic script, mixed freely with Latin, Cyrillic and other left-to-right text in the same document. Other right-to-left scripts render through the browser engine but are not yet in our test suite.
Can I use my own fonts and layouts?
Yes. Upload licensed TTF, OTF or WOFF2 fonts to your account and reference them in CSS. Any HTML and CSS a modern browser renders works, including flexbox, grid and print CSS for page breaks.
How does certificate verification work?
Each certificate gets a unique ID and a QR code linking to a page on our domain (or yours on the Scale plan) showing the issuer, recipient, course, date and status. You can revoke or reissue, and the page updates immediately. The page shows only the fields you choose to publish.
How fast is it, and what about volume?
A typical two-page document renders in under three seconds; batches run asynchronously with webhooks. The rendering pool runs on servers we operate and scales horizontally. For sustained volumes above the Scale plan, ask us for a custom arrangement.
Can I switch away later?
Easily, and we do not lock you in. Templates are plain HTML and CSS you can export, PDFs are yours, and verification records can be exported as a list with IDs so you can host the pages elsewhere.
Is the product live?
Yes, for founding customers. We onboard new accounts within 2 business days, including API keys, a review of your first template and a Zapier or Make test run. Founding-customer pricing is locked for 12 months.
