For EU merchants on Shopware, PrestaShop, Magento, Wix and BigCommerce

The 2026 EU consumer rules, installed on your storefront

Storefront Rules adds the three things the EU's 2026 consumer-law changes require of an online shop: a working withdrawal button, the harmonised legal-guarantee notice, and a check of your catalogue for environmental claims that are now banned. Shopify shops have apps for this; the other platforms are thin, and that is where we focus.

  • Installs a 'Withdraw from contract' button and form that logs each request with a timestamp and sends the customer the acknowledgement the rule requires.
  • Shows the EU legal-guarantee notice on product pages, in the cart and at checkout, in every language your store runs.
  • Scans product titles and descriptions for generic green claims ('eco-friendly', 'climate neutral', 'sustainable') and lists each hit with the page to fix.

Why now

Two EU consumer rules went live in 2026, and most non-Shopify shops haven't moved

Since 19 June 2026, an online shop selling to EU consumers must offer a withdrawal button: a clearly labelled function on the site that lets a customer cancel within the withdrawal period, with a confirmation sent back to them. Since 27 September 2026, shops must display a standard notice about the legal guarantee of conformity, and generic environmental claims without recognised evidence are banned as unfair commercial practices.

These rules apply regardless of platform. Shopify merchants have a crowded app marketplace to pick from. Merchants on Shopware, PrestaShop, Magento, Wix and BigCommerce mostly have to ask their agency for custom work, or paste a notice into a static page and hope that counts. Enforcement is national, through consumer authorities and competitor complaints.

Storefront Rules does the three jobs properly, at a price that makes sense for a small shop, and keeps a log you can show if anyone asks.

How it works

How it works

  1. 1

Install the module for your platform

Shopware 6 (Store), PrestaShop (Addons), Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce (Composer package), Wix (embedded widget and page) or BigCommerce (script and page). 15–30 minutes; our team installs on request.

  2. 2

    Configure notices and texts

Pick the languages your store runs. The legal-guarantee notice uses the official EU wording per language; the withdrawal button and form texts are pre-written and editable. Choose where the notice appears: product page, cart, checkout, footer.

  3. 3

    Run the green-claims scan

The scanner reads your product titles, descriptions and category pages and flags phrases that fall under the generic environmental claims ban, with a suggested rewrite. You decide what to change; nothing is edited automatically.

  4. 4

    Keep the log

Withdrawal requests, acknowledgements and notice settings are logged with timestamps. Export as CSV or PDF for your records or your lawyer.

What it does

Features

Withdrawal button and form

A button labelled 'Withdraw from contract here' (localised) available from any page, leading to a form that collects name, order reference, contact details and date. The customer gets an acknowledgement by email; you get the request in your inbox and in the log.

Legal-guarantee notice placement

The harmonised notice in the EU languages your shop uses, shown on product pages, cart and checkout, plus a dedicated page. Where a platform's checkout doesn't allow content blocks, we show it on the step before.

Green-claims scanner

Scans your catalogue for generic environmental claims ('eco', 'green', 'climate neutral' without specifics) and sustainability labels not based on a certification scheme. Each hit shows the product, the phrase and why it may be a problem. Runs weekly or on demand.

Commercial-guarantee wording

If you offer your own warranty beyond the legal one, the notice must distinguish it. The module helps you state your commercial guarantee next to the legal notice without confusing the two.

Multi-language and multi-storefront

One installation covers all languages and sales channels of your store. Shopware sales channels and PrestaShop multistore are supported.

Request log and export

Each withdrawal request, with timestamp, order reference and acknowledgement status, is kept for your retention period and exportable. No request is lost in a mailbox.

Order lookup

Where the platform exposes orders, the form validates the order reference and shows the order date so you can see whether the request falls within the withdrawal period. The decision stays yours.

Built for

Who it's for

Small EU merchants on Shopware, PrestaShop or Magento

You run a shop with one or two people, your agency quoted custom work for the button and notice, and you want a module that handles it for a few euros a month.

Agencies maintaining many non-Shopify stores

You need one module you can install across client stores, with a per-store log and a scanner report you can hand to the client.

Wix and BigCommerce stores selling into the EU

Your platform's app market has little for EU consumer law; you get a widget plus a page that covers the button and notice.

Brands with sustainability messaging

Your catalogue is full of 'eco' and 'green'. The scanner shows exactly which phrases are at risk under the new rules so you can rewrite before someone else points it out.

Compared with the alternatives

Shopify apps
If you are on Shopify, there are many withdrawal-button and guarantee-notice apps; use one of them. Storefront Rules exists for the platforms those apps don't cover.
Custom work by your agency
A developer can add a button, a form and a notice to any platform. Expect a few hundred to a few thousand euros per store, and nobody watching for text or rule changes afterwards.
A static page and a footer link
Cheap and common, but the withdrawal rule requires a function that confirms receipt, and the guarantee notice has to be visible where the customer decides to buy. A page nobody finds is a weak defence.
Getting started

Your first week

We onboard new stores within 2 business days. Most stores have the button and notice live and the first scan report in hand within the first week.

  1. Day 1: Install the module (or let us), pick languages and placements, and send a test withdrawal request end to end.
  2. Day 2–3: Run the first green-claims scan; review the top hits together and agree on rewrites.
  3. Day 5: Hand the text checklist to whoever maintains your terms; enable the monthly report.
  4. Day 7: Review the request log and confirm your team knows where withdrawal requests arrive.

Security and data

  • Withdrawal requests (name, contact details, order reference) are stored encrypted at rest on servers in the EU and used for nothing beyond the service.
  • Catalogue text for the scanner is read through your platform's API; only the flagged phrases are stored, with their product references.
  • Requests are retained for the period you set (default 3 years), exportable at any time, and deleted on written request.
  • A GDPR data processing agreement is included; we act as processor for the customer data in withdrawal requests.

Questions

Is this legal advice?

No. Storefront Rules is software that installs the required functions and flags risky phrases. Whether your shop is compliant overall, and how the rules apply to your products, is a question for your lawyer or consumer authority.

Does the green-claims scanner guarantee I'm compliant?

No. It finds phrases that match patterns the directive targets and explains why. It can miss claims and it can flag phrases that are fine in context. Treat it as a checklist, not a verdict.

My platform isn't listed. Can you support it?

We build platform modules in order of demand. Tell us your platform when you request service; if enough founding customers ask, it moves up the list. We don't take payment for platforms that aren't ready.

Where does the button need to appear?

The rule requires it to be clearly labelled and easily accessible throughout the withdrawal period, which in practice means reachable from any page, not only inside the account area. Our default puts it in the footer and in the order-confirmation email; you can add placements.

Can the customer still withdraw by email or letter?

Yes. The button is an additional channel the law requires you to offer; it does not replace the others. Requests from other channels can be logged manually so your record is complete.

Do I need to change my terms and conditions?

Possibly: your withdrawal policy should mention the button, and your guarantee statements should match the notice. We give you a checklist of text changes to pass to whoever maintains your legal texts; we don't rewrite them.

What happens if the official notice text changes?

We update the module and notify you with the differences. You decide when to deploy, except on managed installs where we deploy for you after telling you.
